If I could only have one magazine it would be Vogue, and this is why:
Vogue is a bible for anyone who
prefers a Ford suite to a Ford Focus. No longer do I see it as a magazine but a
lifestyle. The interviews, memoirs, photo essays and beauty tips all influence
me and the way I live my life. The interviews allow me to glimpse into the life
of the current star letting me get behind the scenes of a music tour or film
set.
Memoir is a writing style that
consumes many of my days, the most excitingly intrusive of all writing styles.
Not only is the fashion manual full of text but fantasy filling photographs.
The likes of Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz and Nick Knight are just a few of
my favourites that fill its pages, a picture speaks a thousand words a great
space saver but a reality in Vogue. British Vogue December 2008 where fashion
showed how it is truly a marvellous medicine where Tim Burton, my favourite
director, was placed into the magical mind of Roald Dahl whose works have
inspired a whole generation a perfect setting for avant-garde fashion. The use
of electric colours and fantastic fur was a beautiful collection of images that
would only be present in Vogue.
Beauty and style tips are the essential
accessories for any magazine. Trying to perfect my skin or know which shampoo
to buy allows me to get a slice of beauty pie. Without Vogue I would not know
how and when to exfoliate, or the dressing sins: thou shall not wear brown with
black! Vogue is full of glamorous advertisements from a variation of fashion
houses, these allow you to analyze and judge trends and collections for
yourself. The adverts in Vogue give you more, fragrances are the drug for many
chic shoppers, Vogue gives you a little taste of the very Guilty Gucci, let you
find the one with Dolce & Gabbana
and force you to j’adore Doir. These testers would easily make you feel more
desert pharaoh then shipwreck survivor.
Vogue has become a monthly treat
always accompanied with the anticipation to read the editors letter and see who
will be the cover girl. I could not imagine not having it every month.
